Abstract:
The poetic tradition of Indian literature is very ancient in world literature. The earliest form of poetry is found in the Rigveda, the earliest work of world literature, in which the sage with a vision of mantras is described as a poet at certain places. Similarly, the Brahmanas, Aranyakas, and Upanishads of Vedic literature also contain poetic pleasures. The nature of poetry is also revealed in historical and mythological narratives. The original source of the Sanskrit epic tradition is the Ramayana by Valmiki, which provides a complete view of all the trends of the epic. Upon reviewing the epic, the Mahabharata provides direction. In fact, the origins of Indian epics are the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. The poetic traditions emanating from these two have nurtured the Indian literary garden and nurtured numerous poetic flowers. The word 'epic' is derived from the two words 'mahat' and 'kavya'.
