Abstract:
The following work consists of the relationships found between the novels El Lazarillo de Tormes, considered the first novel of the picaresque genre published in 1554, and the Family of Pascual Duarte, by the Spanish author Camilo José Cela, whose original publication was in 1942. Four centuries separate these two novels, but when reading the works under analysis we have been able to find many characteristics that they share with the picaresque novel. From the typical structure of this prose genre originated in Spain to the tremendism, a genre initiated by this work by José Cela. In this work we will focus on the comparison of how the protagonists of both stories evolve with the families in the center of attention.
