Abstract:
Kamla Das's poetry is deeply infused with autobiographical elements, reflecting her personal experiences and societal observations. Her work explores themes of identity, gender, and familial roles, offering an intimate portrayal of her life. Through candid and evocative language, Das addresses her struggles with societal expectations and personal desires. Her poems, such as "An Introduction" and "The Old Playhouse," reveal her challenges with traditional roles and the constraints imposed upon women. Das’s poetic voice provides a profound critique of cultural norms while exploring the intersections of personal and universal experiences, making her work a compelling study of self and society.
