LE DIPLOME DE DOCTORAT EN COTE D’IVOIRE : ENTRE LES COMPLICATIONS D’INSERTION PROFESSIONNELLE ET LA BANALITE POPULAIRE

Abstract:

If, over the last few decades in developing countries, we have not tired of writing about professional integration issues, it's because the literature has shown that policies that contribute to reducing unemployment and increasing employability are still feverish in the face of the growing number of graduates entering the job market. Indeed, graduates looking for their first job, particularly those with a “doctorate”, who would have imagined the highest academic qualifications as a factor for instant professional integration, are in the current state of affairs confronted with two major phenomena: “declassification and popular banality”. On this basis, the paper conducts a descriptive analysis of the day-to-day perceptions of the non-employment period of a few graduates (PhD holders). Specifically, the paper highlights the nature of social contrariety among “PhDs”. Field surveys point to the academic and social difficulties and psychological constraints encountered in the doctoral training process, in everyday life and in the trivialization of the doctoral diploma.
