Abstract:
The exploitation of nature and natural resources in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is a complex phenomenon with major social, ecological, and political consequences. This study explores literary representations of this reality through a corpus of contemporary Congolese works. The analysis combines ecocritical and historical approaches and highlights how Congolese writers denounce resource predation, environmental violence, and the inequalities perpetuated by economic neocolonialism. Far from being limited to fiction, these narratives carry a critical, memorial, and resistant charge. They offer an alternative perspective on the Congolese ecological tragedy and reexamine the links between literature, the environment, and social justice.
