Research and publication are now being part of the duties of teachers at all institutions of higher education throughout the world. Regardless of the motivation, faculty research fulfills a vital need for new knowledge generation. The primary aim of the current study was to pilot test a survey instrument to evaluate the common problems being encountered by the faculty members of the Rizal Technological University in conducting research. It has been conducted to track misconceptions, difficulties and the different challenges that are being experience in order to come up with the proper program that are manageable, feasible and output oriented that will lead to the production of more and more researches that would change faculty motivation and research involvement over time, with an emphasis on submissions and publications as effective outcomes. The survey instrument consists of scales measuring research related problems on the basic parts of conducting research as well as the needs that have to be addressed. Data revealed that the faculty members need to have massive trainings to overcome their problems and address their needs in conducting research. A training program had been proposed in order to help them cope up with the identified problems that they have encountered in conducting researches.
